men at work

no, I’m not working that much that I have no time for my blog… but when I have free time, I want to do other things.
.
I’ve been trying to finish the version 3 of my electromix podcast (version one and two here), but my apps went kaput on me (it spins endlessly but doesn’t spit the resulting file) and using terminal to make chapter tools hurts my GUI sensibilities.
.
nevertheless, I have a lot of good work done at the company I’m working, like:

.
I’m buying magazines and books galore, tho. My idea is to take a pic of all my findings and list what I think about each dead tree media, but all the glossy mags shine back and gimme crappy pics.
.
also, learning (or trying to) actionscript, finally. Because flash is now my main media (till now it was html+CSS), I can afford to focus on it’s programming.

microsoft divorce

tomhudson reads the writing on the wall.
.
from my perspective, I decided long ago to stop using microsoft solutions, like a commitment to become vegan. and till now, using mac and OS solutions, everytime I bump into the microsoft world (a friend trying to import his hotmail address book to his computer, a boss trying to save a powerpoint as pdf), it enrages me.
.
microsoft interface policy is: any data input is welcomed by wizards, free options and optional helps. any data you want to take OUT of the microsoft database… well, you’re out of luck.

skype as ebay

donnacha discuss ebay’s acquisition of skype at slashdot. that’s a smart scenario, and I hope ebay’s executives have this in mind.
.

a techie in Bombay could build a reputation for solving computer problems for customers in Baltimore (…) It would also allow that kid in Bombay to keep a meaningful percentage of his per-minute fee, allowing him to keep it low. You would soon have a massive market of providers, ranging from amateurs to highly experienced professionals, all promoting their services via websites and forums, all adapting their charges and services to market conditions.
